Kansas Weather A family member of mine who lives in Kansas mentioned the following in a recent letter to me. "It was terribly hot here this summer — 2 summers in a row now — and no rain. Our ponds are drying up, and that is so worrisome." Western New York Weather Many crops failed due to lack of rain here in Western New York. Apples, peaches, raspberries, plums and many other crops were sparse or completely failed, devastating farmers. We had unusually dry spots this summer. Western New York State is usually a very wet place. There are corporations, like Nestle, illegally draining the water supplies in the U.S. For example, they have a pump that takes the water from rivers flowing into lake Michigan, and they have actually drained enough water that the entire lake has dropped a half-dozen feet or so in the past five or so years.
